In 2014, CEO, Dr. Kevin Maxwell established the Department of Family and Community Engagement to support the district’s goal of increasing opportunities for family and community engagement in Prince George’s County Public Schools. The department is committed to increasing participation and intentional collaboration between families, schools, and the broader PGCPS community in support of the district goal of outstanding academic achievement for ALL students.
In working to increase family and community participation and engagement with PGCPS, it is crucial that we allocate resources and identify research-based and innovative, structured strategies to bridge the gap, for this reason, PGCPS has developed the Family Institute which will launch September 10, 2016. It will serve as a structured strategy designed to enhance the capacity of families and other learning guardians in support of the academic achievement of students.
